Two Lads of Liverpool

First Produced by Northwest Children's Theater in Portland, OR in Spring 2009.
Produced by the Vancouver School of Arts and Academics in Fall 2009.

Loosely based on Shakespeare's Two Gentlemen of Verona, this new musical sets the classic story in the 'rock 'n roll' explosion of 1960's Liverpool, England and Hamburg, Germany.

Follow Valentine and Proteus, two struggling rock 'n rollers who leave Liverpool in search of green pastures. Things are looking up until they both fall for Sylvia, the daughter of a Reeperbahn club owner, and the soon to be wife of a Hamburg gangster.

Things only get more complicated when Julia, Proteus' old girlfriend, follows him to Hamburg as well only to find him using the song he wrote for her to woe a new lady.

Two Lads features a full original score inspired by the works of such artists as Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Eddie Cochran, and the heroes of the Merseybeat movement.
